Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health service. We provide culturally appropriate, family centred, comprehensive primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York. As Health Promotion Senior Officer you will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, monitoring, reporting and evaluating Apunipima's health promotion activities and programs. You will work from the head office in Cairns, providing professional advice, support and leadership to your team (up to five direct reports). You will work closely and in collaboration with management to ensure that the organisations service delivery is integrated, systematic and comprehensive. This is a Full Time Contract commencing immediately up to 29 October 2021. The filling of this position is intended to constitute a special/equal opportunity measure under s 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) and s 105 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld). The position is therefore only open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants.
To be successful in this role you will have: - Tertiary qualification in Health Promotion, Health Management or equivalent experience - Demonstrated experience in health promotion program strategy planning, implementation and development - Experience developing, supporting and leading a multidisciplinary team - Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York - Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs - Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement
