Reporting to the General Manager - Community Engagement and Partnerships, you will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of a broad range of internal and external engagement activities. Your work will leverage opportunities and socioeconomic outcomes for Aboriginal people in Western Sydney resulting from the airport’s development and operation. This pivotal position will be a catalyst, supporting the successful achievement of key strategic initiatives that positively contribute to Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport’s commitment to reconciliation and the region’s socioeconomic uplift. As a member of the Community Engagement and Partnerships team, the Aboriginal Engagement Manager develops and leads initiatives to ensure the project maintains positive relationships with the Aboriginal community and stakeholders, including community organisations. A core focus is to ensure the community of Western Sydney benefits from the various opportunities the airport will create. Accountable for leading the evolution and delivery of the Western Sydney Airport Aboriginal Engagement Master Plan, this position must consult with diverse stakeholders to influence key initiatives and programs to celebrate, respect and acknowledge Aboriginal cultural heritage. This role also leads the successful delivery of WSA’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), championing the perspectives of Aboriginal communities into business decisions and outcomes. The Aboriginal Engagement Manager will also demonstrate collaboration and embrace building relationships across WSA (including WSA’s Delivery Partners and Contractors). This will also include early stakeholder engagement, leading open and honest communication with Aboriginal communities to establish solid relationships. This will be built on regular communications in regard to the milestones of the project and the impact of the Airport’s construction and operations. This role is best suited to a person who identifies as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person as they will be required to work closely with and have knowledge of our local Aboriginal community and to ensure alignment with a broader plan to prioritise Aboriginal opportunities across Western Sydney. Key objectives • Managing the evolution and delivery of the industry-leading Aboriginal Engagement Master Plan and RAP, the successful candidate will lead key initiatives and programs to support organisational objectives and deliver positive socioeconomic benefits for Aboriginal communities in Western Sydney. • Delivering strategies and activities within a complex stakeholder environment and developing beneficial, relationships within the business and within the Aboriginal stakeholder community. • Influencing across the organisation and identifying solutions to balance competing business needs to drive positive outcomes for Aboriginal communities aligned with WSA organisational objectives. • Exercising sound judgement and developing communication material in a context of rapidly changing priorities. • Providing advice and recommendations on Aboriginal community opinions, issues and opportunities in a concise and timely manner. A team player who has a natural ability to influence others, we would be keen to hear from those who also have experience in Aboriginal affairs management within a government organisation would be highly regarded. Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline would be advantageous yet not essential.
