The Australian Community Climate and Earth-Systems Simulator (ACCESS), is a collaborative venture between Government and the Australian research community to support development, maintenance and access to climate and weather models. ACCESS is being transformed into a National Research Infrastructure (NRI) capability accessible by a broader community of users, enabled by Australian Government investment through the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). Hosted at ANU, ACCESS-NRI is being established as a multi-party collaborative venture responding to the current and future needs of Australia’s scientific, Government and stakeholder community.
The Office Administrator will work under the direction of the Director, ACCESS-NRI to support the day-to-day administration of the team. The position will interact with a range of stakeholders, and is expected to develop networks and relationships within the ANU and external contacts to undertake this role effectively. The role will support the Director and Business Manager with business planning, reporting, general administration, and secretariat services.
The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator who is exceptionally organised and able to manage competing priorities. They will be able to actively investigate queries and will be able to provide a high level of customer service. Previous experience in client facing or project support roles would be highly regarded. Selection Criteria: • Completion of a degree without subsequent relevant work experience, or completion of an advanced diploma/Certificate IV with relevant work experience. Previous client facing, or project management experience would be highly regarded. • Demonstrated ability in providing administrative support to a busy office, taking responsibility for its day-to-day functioning, and in the provision of high-level assistance to senior staff. • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly, independently, and within a team environment, using initiative, judgement and discretion. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to consult, negotiate and liaise effectively with a diverse range of people. • Proven ability to consistently display high quality customer service principles, practices and attributes and the ability to respond and adjust to changing work demands and circumstances, including a capacity to work effectively while under pressure. • Highly-developed data manipulation and analysis skills and experience with the Microsoft Office suite of programs, particularly word processing, spread sheets, presentations, databases, email and the internet. Familiarity with relationship or sales databases would be desirable. • Demonstrated understanding of equal opportunity principles and policies and a commitment to their application in a university context.

This job is located in Canberra, ACT. You will be a part of the ACCESS-NRI initiative coordinated by the ANU Research Initiatives and Infrastructure (RII) team. This is a newly created team with oversight to develop a coordinated approach to the management and administrative support to cross-university activities.
