This is an Indigenous role. A small Departmental Projects Section requires a Project Officer to assist with delivering complex projects, Indigenous policy input, and undertaking stakeholder interaction, with some site visits to on ground activities.
Opportunity for a motivated person with good admin, project management and communication skills to: • Assist with secretariat functions to a National Sub-Committee; • Support Indigenous engagement and consultation in policy development; • Assist with the section’s management of each of the projects. This could include reviewing and providing comments on progress reports, negotiating deeds of variation, participating in fortnightly meetings with various stakeholders, preparing progress reports for the Project Board, developing site visit risk analysis and trip plans, and preparing briefs and ministerial correspondence as required; • Contribute to the section’s responsibilities in the broader context of the division. • sound verbal and written communication skills, including with team members, supervisors, internal and external stakeholders, to ensure tasks are completed accurately in a consultative, timely and accurate manner; • demonstrated skills and experience undertaking secretariat duties; • ability to work independently and as part of a small team; • sound organisational, administrative and project management skills; • ability to prioritise tasks based on needs of the section, branch and division; • use judgement and provide advice to ensure tasks are completed on time and the appropriate contacts are kept informed; and • enthusiasm and a 'can do' attitude. • hold, or ability to obtain, a Baseline Vetting security clearance.
