The School of Culture, History and Language is the focus of research and teaching in Asian and Pacific humanities, social sciences and languages and seeks to build excellence in understanding and capability in engaging with the Asia and Pacific region. The key disciplines that are represented in the School are anthropology, archaeology, cultural studies, gender studies, history, linguistics, and languages, all contributing to the foundational knowledge of Asia and the Pacific.
CHL is looking for an experienced Business and Events Support Officer to join our friendly and fast-paced team. The Business and Events Support Officer will provide general organisational and administrative support, contributing to the efficient coordination of the education and event and marketing activities of the School through liaising with staff and students and providing advice and assistance on a wide range of education administration, marketing and event-management matters. The position will assist with school web development, events (including in person and online seminars, conferences, flagships and workshops), publications, multimedia content creation and media outreach. The Business Support Officer will undertake a broad range of administrative tasks relating to education and outreach activities of the School, providing support to a variety of School stakeholders, including staff, students and visitors. They will work in partnership with School administration team members and with colleagues in the College and Central University Services.
Our ideal candidate will have relevant experience in an administrative role within a complex organisation, specifically experience in student administration, events or marketing would be desirable. Proficient in MS Office and data management platforms, with experience in using design software programs such as Adobe Creative and MailChimp. We are looking for a confident go-getter with strong communication skills who can organise and prioritise multiple tasks while delivering high-quality outcomes. SELECTION CRITERIA: 1. Demonstrated relevant experience in an administrative and events focussed role in a complex environment. Relevant qualifications will be highly regarded, as will experience in student administration, events or marketing. 2. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to write with confidence on a range of topics; creativity in developing marketing materials and confidence in presenting to a range of audiences. 3. Demonstrated high level customer service skills and an ability to consult and liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders in a culturally diverse environment. 4. Proven organisational skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to prioritise own workload and to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, meeting competing deadlines and delivering high-quality outcomes. 5. Proficiency using MS Office, online data management platforms and design software programs such as MailChimp and Adobe Creative. 6.
