The Director, Indigenous Engagement role is a leadership position within the National Library of Australia. The Director is a member of the leadership team for the Branch. You would be responsible for the development and delivery of a sustainable program of Indigenous Collection and Engagement activities. These functional responsibilities translate to the role having people, program, and stakeholder management responsibilities. The Director, Indigenous Engagement will have high level leadership capability for leading and managing the operations of the Section and a team of people. Their responsibilities include developing, coaching, performance management, change management, conflict resolution and the identification of development needs.
As the Director, Indigenous Engagement, you will need to encompass the core values and vision of the National Library of Australia. The successful candidate will expertly guide the team through the projects with a cultural lens. You will have the ability to progress NLA cultural initiatives and to provide cultural training throughout the organisation. Key Selection Criteria 1. Qualifications or equivalent experience in Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences or related field. 2. Capability to initiate the development of new systems, procedures, policies and/or practices addressing future NLA, and stakeholder needs in area of responsibility. 3. Experience in providing effective leadership and management by setting and monitoring section outcomes, determining priorities and work practices and allocating work as appropriate. 4. Showcase your ability to build Indigenous expertise and knowledge to support engagement with the Indigenous population to enhance content for the First Nations portal and improve the cultural awareness of NLA staff.
