Established in late March 2020, Gayaa Dhuwi (Proud Spirit) Australia (GDPSA) is the new national Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (Indigenous) social and emotional wellbeing, mental health, and suicide prevention leadership body. Directly reporting to the Operations and Policy Officer, the Finance and Administration Officer is regarded as an important member of the GDPSA team, and through the CEO will support the Secretariat, members, networks, and the Board of Directors through supporting the day-to-day administration. This will include supporting budgeting and bookkeeping procedures including accounts payable/receivable. The Finance and Administration Officer duties will include: • All accounts receivable and accounts payable duties. • Supporting the accountant with required information for the budgeting process. • Managing office tasks such as filing, setting up for meetings, and reordering supplies. • Being the first point of call to greet and assist visitors and anticipate their needs to ensure a seamless and positive experience. • Provide financial and administrative support to the secretariat. • Arrange events and meetings. • Management of shared mailboxes. • Accurate data entry and management of the client database. • Other duties as directed.
You will be an experienced Finance and Administration Officer who will be confident in your ability to engage with Indigenous people, members of the Indigenous sector and a range of other stakeholders. You will be: • An experienced and highly motivated Finance and Administration Officer who has a wide range of financial knowledge. • Ability to work under pressure including the ability to achieve outcomes, prioritise work, meet deadlines. • Advanced client database, reporting, and data entry skills. • Highly organised and self-directed. • Able to show experience working in a fast-paced role. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • A person who takes pride in their work and consistently delivers to a high standard. • Strong attention to detail. • A team player. Essential Requirements: 1. Cultural competency covering an understanding of Indigenous people and their communities including policy matters related to the role. 2. Demonstrated experience in finance and administrative roles. 3. Demonstrated ability to cultivate productive working relationships. 4. Exemplifies personal drive and integrity. Desirable Requirements: 1. Relevant finance and/or administration qualifications. 2. Demonstrate a high-level written communication and interpersonal skills. 3. Experience in a not-for-profit organisation. Selection Criteria: 1. Proven ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Indigenous people, stakeholders and communities. 2. Well-developed financial experience, budgeting process and bookkeeping procedures. 3. Demonstrated experience/qualifications in one or more of the following: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Finance, Administration, Accounting. 4. Demonstrated organisational skills and ability to be highly motivated and flexible in a fast-paced environment. 5. Well-developed IT skills including the use of databases and Microsoft Office Business Suite. 6. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a small team as well as an individual when required using initiative, good judgement and innovative strategies.
