GetUp is currently developing a First Nations Justice (FNJ) vision in consultation with our First Nations staff, leaders, and organisations.
The Campaigns Assistant will support the First Nations team to maintain strong community relationships, support campaign operations and assist in writing social media stories. The First Nations Justice Campaigns Assistant (Community Engagement) will be responsible for: ● Assisting a team of First Nations campaigners to deliver campaigns which: ○ achieve justice for First Nations communities ○ put First Nations communities and their allies at the heart of our campaigns ○ see our movement and supporter base grow and diversify, and their enthusiasm for action on First Nations issues increase ○ innovatively combine online and offline campaign techniques ○ are informed by a strong justice lens. ● Drafting campaign content ● Administering the website backend ● Drafting and moderating social media content ● Reviewing and responding to member and community correspondence ● Monitoring the latest news and developments ● Contributing to campaign research, planning and evaluation ● Assisting campaigns teams to execute campaigns and meet their goals
As a Campaigns Assistant on our first Nations Justice Team, you will have a deeply held understanding of the issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and a demonstrated commitment to justice for First Nations peoples. To be successful in this role, you will be/have: • Capable of working autonomously on a range of different tasks, events, and projects. • A high level of organisational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to take initiative in order get the job done and keep on track. • Digital skills and a willingness to learn new technologies used at GetUp. • Ability to form a good rapport with a diverse range of people including First Nations volunteers, staff, and organisations. Key Selection Criteria Requirements: 1. Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Digital skills with a willingness to learn new technologies, thriving in a fast-paced environment. 5. Strong ability to work in a team, bringing ‘off the wall’ creativity and ideas to the FNJT team.
