Lifeline is Australia’s leading suicide prevention service. We are a national charity providing all Australians experiencing a personal crisis with access to 24-hour crisis support. Suicide is a national crisis, and sadly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are twice as likely to die by suicide than the broader population. Lifeline Australia’s vision is an Australia free of suicide. To achieve this, we are collaborating with key Indigenous Specialists to ring together those with the cultural knowledge, expertise and connection with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and those with extensive helpline delivery infrastructure and experience. This collaboration will develop employment opportunities and pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People and ultimately provide a service that will help save Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lives.
The First Nations Workforce Coordinator will support and implement approved initiatives and projects to strengthen current workforce cultural awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This role will work to design, recommend, and implement approved best practice initiatives to create a culturally safe workforce for First Nation’s people in collaboration with the Executive Director, People & Culture and the relevant P&C HR business partner. The First Nations Workforce Coordinator will provide recommendations to the People & Culture (P & C) team, National Program Manager and other key stakeholders. This role will provide administration sup-port on processes including but not limited to performance management, recruitment, reward and recognition, training, policies, and procedures provide recommendations on culturally appropriate aspects of effective implementation. This role will also support the retention of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Is-lander workforce. The First Nations Workforce Coordinator will work closely with the National Program Manager and the clinical training team on the creation of frameworks to support the delivery of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Crisis Support Service and coordination of the implementation requirements. Reporting to the National Program Manage, you will have excellent interpersonal skills to manage conflict, as well as demonstrated attention to detail with the ability to manage ambiguity. Experience such as Training and organisational development, relevant lived experience as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person or an understanding of Fair Work Australia would be desirable. Key Selection Criteria 1. Undergraduate degree in Business or HR related discipline or equivalent relevant industry experience in First Nations employment advisory/ administration. 2. At least 4-6 years’ experience in First Nations Employment or HR. 3. Excellent communication and presentation skills. 4. Strong organisational skills, eye for detail and efficient coordination of a high volume of tasks. 5. Demonstrated ability to provide input to strategy development and planning; supports strategy through implementation of national work plan; problem analysis and judgement. 6. Proven experience consistently delivering on results; Self-organising and self-managing; leverages knowledge and technology for results; timely resolution of high-level issues. 7. Ability to effectively liaise and build/maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
