The Heritage, Reef and Marine Division works to conserve, protect and sustainably manage Australia’s biodiversity and heritage. Our heritage is an important part of our national identity. We work actively to ensure the protection of our national and world heritage places that tell the stories of our history and our unique Indigenous heritage.
• Produce high quality written material under direction, including in particular ministerial briefs and correspondence, and possibly other documents including discussion papers, reports, agenda papers, contracts and web text. • Build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders including community groups and businesses with a focus on achieving positive heritage outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. • Manage contracts including developing contract documentation, participating in selection processes and identifying contractor performance issues. • Contribute to business improvement including through the development of plans, strategies and team goals. • Build knowledge of and compliance with legislative, financial and administrative frameworks, government decision-making processes and agency guidelines and regulations.
• Ability to quickly establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including communicating sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to research, analyse and prepare accurate briefs and reports to meet deadlines. • Experience in project and contract management, including attention to detail and ability to manage priorities to ensure timely delivery of work. • Ability to contribute to a cooperative team environment; maintain team cohesion, adhere to documented procedures and share information with colleagues. • Ability to manage competing priorities, exercise judgement and common-sense, and respond quickly and flexibly to change. • Confidence, resilience and empathy are qualities that are highly valued for the sensitive and efficient resolution of complex issues.
