Provide tailored support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students living in a residential college setting at Trinity College.
Trinity College’s Indigenous programs have been developing since 2001 and are set in the context of the College’s commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous communities. The imperative of these programs is to implement practical steps that make a real difference to the lives of Indigenous tertiary education students and their communities. These programs aim to provide opportunities in tertiary education for capable students from Aboriginal and Torres Strait communities to reach their full potential and to inform and educate the wider society about Indigenous culture. The purpose of this position is to provide the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students of Trinity College with tailored support to enable them to succeed in their higher education studies, and to advise the College on matters of cultural protocol to ensure students are able to flourish.
To be considered for this role, applicants must have a tertiary qualification and have demonstrated working experience in a similar role within the higher education sector. You must be passionate about working with students and understand and value the residential collegiate experience. Knowledge or familiarity with the University of Melbourne's administrative and academic processes or familiarity with the University College environment is desirable. The successful candidate will possess strong organisation and time management skills, coupled with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within a culturally diverse education community or similar environment. You will exercise appropriate confidentiality and cultural sensitivities in all student and staff matters and be self-motivated with a keen interest to contribute to the educational vision and values of the College.
Contract Type: This is a part-time (0.6 fraction), ongoing position.
