The Library User Services Assistant provides user services through participating in rostered information desk duties, assisting in maintaining the reserve collection and collection supply services. The position also assists with building related matters in close collaboration with the Library User Services Coordinator and the building custodians. This position contributes to the Library by supporting user access to scholarly information services by assisting with the circulation and reserve functions. 1. Assist in the provision of Library User Services including: a) Processing material for the short term loan and e-reserve collections, including the creation of related bibliographic records b) Respond to user enquiries and resolve more complex problems c) Coordinate collection supply requests (including off-campus and BONUS+) in accordance with agreed timeframes d) Liaise with academic staff as required, in particular with regard to short loan requirements e) Provide preliminary advice on Library User Services policies and procedures f) Collect and maintain relevant usage statistics g) Assist with building related matters such as security, facilities, equipment requirements and maintenance 2) Assist with the documentation of procedures and ensure that Library user services staff are trained in all relevant policies and procedures relating to lending services 3) Participate in the provision of information access services 4) Undertake other duties as required consistent with the classification level including general administrative duties and other tasks required by the Library User Services Coordinator 5) Comply with all ANU policies and procedures with particular reference to those relating to health and safety and equal opportunity.
1. Associate Diploma in Library Studies or a Library Technician Certificate or an equivalent combination of relevant training and extensive relevant experience. 2. Demonstrated experience in the effective delivery of services to library users and the provision of access to, and assistance with, scholarly information resources in all formats 3. Information technology skills including knowledge and experience in a variety of library relevant software applications 4. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, together with the ability to liaise with members of the ANU community 5. Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team and respond flexibly to a changing work environment 6. Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of accuracy, set priorities, meet deadlines and manage workloads with minimal supervision 7. Demonstrated understanding of equal opportunity principles and policies and a commitment to their application in a university context.
