We are seeking an enthusiastic user services officer who enjoys working with library resources and clients in a user services role. A client focused person who also thrives on delivering quality user services in a dynamic and electronic oriented environment will be ideal for this position.
The User Services Officer, contributes to supporting user access to scholarly information services by coordinating circulation services in the Library, as well as supporting user access to scholarly information services. The position is responsible for coordinating, monitoring and training staff in processes associated with the client services functions of the Library. The position also provides reference and information literacy services, and coordinates building related matters in close collaboration with the building custodian. You will participate in the provision of library circulation and related services. The position also participates in rostered shifts on the Information Desk, answering routine enquiries, assisting Library users with the operation of equipment, as well as participating in the presentation of information literacy sessions. Experience with software applications, good communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to supervise and work effectively as a team-member are all essential requirements. Knowledge of library user services and circulation functions essential, together with relevant work experience. SELECTION CRITERIA: 1. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in library user services, with sound skills of circulation and managing high demand resources. Relevant qualification and/or extensive relevant work experience will be highly regarded. 2. Demonstrated experience in the effective delivery of services to library users and the provision of access to, and reference assistance with, scholarly information resources in all formats. 3. Proven information technology skills including knowledge and experience in a variety of library relevant software applications. 4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to consult, negotiate and liaise effectively with a diverse range of people, as well as a proven ability to consistently display high quality customer service principles, practices and attributes. 5. Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team and team leader, supervise staff, manage team workloads, as well as working with a high degree of accuracy and the ability to respond and adjust to changing work demands and circumstances, including a capacity to work effectively while under pressure. 6. Demonstrated understanding of equal opportunity principles and policies and a commitment to their application in a university context.
Salary package: $71,878 - $78,411 per annum, plus 17% superannuation Terms: Full Time, Continuing - Lead a small team providing quality circulation, course reserve, and user services. - Assist with providing information services and training to clients.
