ANU Communications and Engagement (ACE) are the University's central point for corporate, internal and external communication, media relations, community engagement and public lectures. This news gathering focused position plays a key role in the effort to tell great ANU stories, through the media and social media distribution channels.
Position overview The Multimedia Communications Officer reports to the Manager, Multimedia Communication and Production as part of the multidisciplinary ACE team. The team works closely with the ANU Executive, Academics and service divisions. The Multimedia Communications Officer will produce timely, high-quality and creative multimedia content, operate the ANU Media Studio, assist with the efficient operation of the multimedia unit and provide training and advice to campus communicators and academic staff.
The Multimedia Communications Officer will identify, produce and disseminate (across a variety of distribution channels) professional multimedia content and provide training and advice as required to both campus communicators and academic staff. SELECTION CRITERIA: 1. Degree in a relevant field with demonstrated experience, particularly in communication theory and/or video/photo journalism or an equivalent combination of experience and education/training. A background in professional multimedia production would be a distinct advantage. 2. Demonstrated experience in photo/video journalism in an online or broadcast news/media environment including an ability to develop strategies and produce multimedia packages and maintain a large network of contacts. 3. Ability to deliver training, presentations and run relevant workshops. 4. Demonstrated ability to successfully contribute to a high performing team using initiative, judgement, and discretion. 5. Demonstrated ability to maintain a flexible and proactive approach to tasks within a busy work environment and the ability to organise work priorities, multiple projects and meet tight deadlines, with a high level of attention to detail and great accuracy. 6. Highly developed visual communication skills, including evidence of an ability to grasp and communicate complex subjects. Experience using social media as an effective communication tool would be an advantage. 7. Highly developed technical skills, including proficiency using the MsOffice suite, Adobe suite and multimedia production equipment and systems. 8.
