The Health Network Northern Territory Limited (the Company), operating as Northern Territory PHN (NT PHN), operates the Northern Territory’s Primary Health Network, and is also the Northern Territory’s Rural Workforce Agency. NT PHN is a not-for-profit organisation funded by the Australian Government to work closely with the primary health sector to develop better coordination, support the health workforce and introduce new health programs and services.
The NT PHN Board is requesting expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced persons to join the NT PHN Board to fill Uone non-executive Director vacancy of the Company with a proposed appointment date of 29 November 2021. The Board meets approximately 6 times per year. The term of appointment is for a three-year period, with the opportunity for future terms of re-appointment as per NT PHN’s Constitution. Most Directors are required to also serve on one of the Board Committees as appointed by the Board and meets at least 4 times per year. Directors are remunerated in accordance with the Directors’ Remuneration Policy.
The position will ideally be filled by a candidate with qualifications, skills, and experience in General Practice/Private Practice/Population Health/Public Health. Applicant should have the ability to contribute to the Board’s required collective professional skills and experience, which include strategy and policy development; financial and risk management; corporate governance (particularly in the not-for-profit context); primary health care; General Practice; Aboriginal community control; public health policy, planning, and delivery; Aboriginal health care; Mental Health and clinical governance. These skills are expected from the Board as a whole, with no individual Director expected to possess all the skills identified. Desired skills include: - Previous Director experience and training - Ability to think strategically and to identify and critically assess strategic opportunities and threats - Ability to identify key risks to the organisation in a wide range of areas - Knowledge and experience in best practice corporate governance structures, policies, and processes - The ability to work as part of a team, and demonstrate the passion and time to make a genuine and active contribution to the Board and NT PHN NT PHN is committed to undertaking all work within a culturally inclusive, sensitive, and safe framework that supports Reconciliation.
