NSW Treasury is looking for a high performing Policy Analyst passionate about driving social impact for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in NSW. In this role you will help to foster strong, collaborative relationships across NSW government and will provide broad operational and administrative support to the SAO Branch.
The Strategic and Aboriginal Outcomes Branch (SAO) is the primary driver of Aboriginal-related Outcome Budgeting across government. We work collaboratively with agencies to ensure adequate investment in First Nations communities, organisations, peak bodies and for services that deliver improved outcomes for Aboriginal people in NSW. The team is the relationship lead and central point of contact for Aboriginal Affairs NSW and provides strategic advice and analysis of Aboriginal-related issues within Treasury. We are a central point of contact for engagement with Indigenous issues and a resource for priority policy projects and community engagement within Treasury. As Policy Analyst – Strategic and Aboriginal Outcomes you will research, analyse and provide quality advice on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy issues with the aim of improving outcomes for Aboriginal peoples living in NSW. The role will help to foster strong, collaborative relationships across NSW government and will provide broad operational and administrative support to the SAO Branch. The Policy Analyst will also work across the three customer facing divisions within the Policy and Budget Group to better understand responsibility and accountability for Aboriginal outcomes across government, work in partnership NSW public sector colleagues on Aboriginal investment policy and provide strategic analysis on a broad range of policy issues within Treasury.
Desirable Selection Criteria: - Experience working on First Nations issues and a good degree of Indigenous cultural capability; - Experience working collaboratively with Aboriginal organisations, peak bodies and communities; - Curiosity to find solutions to tricky Aboriginal-related policy problems; - Adept at communicating policy and program analysis clearly and effectively (verbally and in writing); - Ability and desire to work collaboratively; - Good understanding of economic or financial data and basic quantitative analysis techniques; - Sound understanding of the public sector environment, including both Federal and State landscapes; and - Ability to think and act strategically. - Ideal candidates will have experience working with multiple stakeholders, and have adept communication / interpersonal skills, with the ability to undertake accurate analysis (including numerical and/or policy development) under pressure.
Total Remuneration Package: $85,488 - $94,327 + superannuation + leave loading - Contribute to sustainable social impact in Aboriginal communities in NSW - Help shape public policy on important economic, social and fiscal issues - Make a difference to the people of NSW
