Reporting to the Country Manager, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to drive our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programming in Australia. To do this role effectively: • you are a compelling communicator • able to bring people with you • have extensive experience working with stakeholders • are a creative thinker able to problem solve effectively • are a team builder and expert stakeholder manager and • have a solid understanding of the public health challenges in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and in remote healthcare. The Programs Manager is accountable for ensuring projects are designed and delivered in line with the Indigenous Australia Program (IAP Country Strategy) and The Foundation’s Strategic Framework. The Programs Manager provides leadership and oversight for IAP's program implementation to provide overall direction, coordination and operational delivery. The Programs Manager works in close collaboration with the virtual technical Country Support Hub and global teams to drive the successful achievement of The Foundation’s strategic objectives. The Program Manager is committed to operate against the IAP Programming Principles, Team Charter, and The Foundation’s Social Justice approach.
To be successful in this role we are looking for the following: • Extensive experience (minimum of 5 years) delivering programs in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander sector ideally with some exposure to eye health and/or health programming and managing country programming • Strong experience managing a team and working in the Australian public health and political context • Strong experience designing and using program monitoring and evaluation frameworks and experience conducting program evaluation • Knowledge of and experience in approaches to Continuous Quality Improvement • Extensive experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and understanding their cultures • Demonstrated capacity for high-level representation and strategic advocacy to engage and influence senior levels of government and other partners • Ability to publicly represent The Foundation through media and stakeholder events • Resource mobilization expertise and track record of securing significant funding for programs • Strong existing network of relationships and areas of influences across the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health or related sectors.
