The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the ATSI Act and subject to the PGPA Act. The ILSC assists Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to realise economic, social, cultural and environmental benefits that the ownership and management of land, water and water related rights can bring. The ILSC provides this assistance through the acquisition and management of rights and interests in land, salt water and fresh water country.
The ILSC is proud to be working in partnership with the Yamatji Southern Regional Corporation (Regional Entity) to establish its capability to develop and manage the land and water assets received as part of the Yamatji Nation Southern Regional Agreement. The establishment phase has been identified as a key period for development and implementation of an economic development strategy for the assets received. It is also during this time that relationships with partners and a diverse range of key stakeholders will be shaped. The key areas of support provided by the Project Development Manager to the Regional Entity within this phase include: • design and development of a process to manage asset management and development activities and actions for 1600 lots of land • assisting the Regional Entity to build its internal capability • development and implementation of tourism projects • development of a strategic plan and implementation guide • engagement with State Government (various committees) and other stakeholders • design plan for how the Regional Entity will manage the significant water rights that will be transferred This role is initially offered on a 12 month non-ongoing basis.
To be successful in this role you must have: • proven experience with complex project management in land tenure and Crown land management including Native Title, Heritage, or Aboriginal Community Development or Business sectors. • demonstrated sound commercial and business acumen and the ability to identify opportunities and develop them into commercially viable outcomes • advanced communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage, influence, negotiate, facilitate, and communicate effectively with Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders and a knowledge and understanding of their cultures
