Help to improve services and experience for Indigenous Higher Degree by Research students Identified role specifically for Indigenous talent * Salary Level HEW 7 + 17% Superannuation, fixed term until end Dec 2022 Based in the heart of Melbourne
This position sits within the Office of Indigenous Education, Research and Engagement within the Policy, Strategy, and Impact (PSI) Portfolio and is responsible for providing the leadership and strategic direction for RMIT’s whole-of-university approach to reconciliation and engagement efforts and activities. The Office is responsible for a university wide remit that has impact on all parts of the university. About the role The Project Officer will play a key role in reviewing the access and student experience for Indigenous Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates. The Project Officer will work with the Ngarara Willim Centre to improve its services to Indigenous HDR candidates, including input on the development of a leadership program and any other outcomes of the activities. An excellent planner and communicator, the Project Officer will provide high-quality support to ensure that projects achieve the desired outcomes. As part of this role, the Project Officer will support and contribute to a wide range of activities including the development and implementation of project plans, needs analysis, report on project progress, stakeholder engagement and project communications. The Project Officer will assist the Manager, Indigenous Student Education and will also work broadly across the University with a range of stakeholders. About You To come and join our team, you’ll meet the following criteria: Must identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person Project management skill and experience. An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people A high level ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples Knowledge of the Higher Education sector including the Indigenous Student experience and Research Training Well-developed organisational, planning and analytical skills. Proven ability to secure the cooperation and engagement of a wide range of stakeholders The ability in capturing, mapping and analysis of data. * Note that this is an Identified position and being an Australian Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander is considered a ‘genuine occupational qualification’ in accordance with sub-s 26(3) and s 28 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.
