This year marks The Foundation’s 30th anniversary of carrying on the legacy of Professor Fred Hollows, who believed every person had the right to quality eye care, no matter where they live. The Foundation has grown to work in more than 25 countries focused in Australia on our Indigenous communities and operating throughout Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific. The Foundation has restored sight to more than 2.5 million people worldwide. We have an ambitious five-year strategic plan that aims to take us even closer to realising our vision of a world in which no person is needlessly blind or vision impaired and ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people exercise their right to sight and good health. THE OPPORTUNITY The Project Officer will provide support for the design and delivery of project activities, through our implementing partners, to achieve the objectives and deliverables within our Indigenous Australia Program (IAP) projects and overarching strategy. The Project Officer will focus on the areas of contract management, project monitoring, reporting and compliance. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Support the programs team to implement, monitor and report on approved projects activities in accordance with approved Project Design Documents, work plans and annual budgets. • Participate in partner and project reflections and reviews, and adjust project workplans and strategies as required. • Take part in partnership or coalition meetings when requested, with the intent to provide documentation of meeting content and document outcomes/ action follow ups. • Work with the finance team and our partners to prepare annual financial budgets, plan and monitor monthly/quarterly expenditure against budgets and ensure submission of timely accurate monthly and quarterly financial returns, and utilisation of project assets and resources. • Support the Senior Project Officer (SPO) with organising and preparing any areas of work that are required for internal reporting. • Support IAP and the Senior Project Officer (SPO) to identify and share project case studies. • Other tasks as requested, are relevant to your role and the success of The Foundation.

About you

ABOUT YOU To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated experience coordinating projects. You will have strong communications skills (written and verbal) with the ability to write effectively for varied purposes and audiences as well as strong stakeholder management skills. Further, you will be process driven, with a drive to standardise processes in order to maximise efficiency. You will be a problem solver, always looking for the best solutions, while showing resilience and initiative when faced with challenging circumstances. You will be deadline driven, able to work within tight timeframes and able to manage competing priorities. You will be highly computer literate able to pick up internal program management and budgeting systems quickly. Finally, you will be a team player, able to adjust to changing circumstances and work within a cross-cultural context. WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED • Experience within a similar role, preferably in a similar context. • Knowledge of end-to-end project management principles in a Program context, including budgeting and reporting. • The ability to work in a diverse work environment. • Proven ability to implement work systems to plan out multiple concurrent activities, keep on track and manage expectations of internal stakeholders when there are conflicts in timeframes. • Proven ability to influence and work with multiple internal stakeholders and communicate your needs and context effectively. Desirable Experience: • Experience working in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health context. • Experience in working with community-based organisations. • Previous hands-on experience in project implementation and working through partners. • Ability to support the development of skills and capacity including training initiatives.
