The Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association Ltd is the national body representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander doctors and medical students. Our purpose is to contribute to equitable health and life outcomes, and the cultural wellbeing of Indigenous people by increasing the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander medical students and doctors and supporting a culturally safe healthcare system. As a peak organisation, we are represented on over 45 committees nationally and collaborate with a range of key stakeholders and affiliated organisations.
The Senior Communications and Marketing Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of communications and marketing strategies, initiatives and programs including: • Development and implementation of strategic communications and marketing strategies and campaigns • Content creation for internal and external channels and publications • Management of social media channels • Management of website • Internal communications and events • Media and issues management • Design and branding The position is a cross-functional role and provides support to the Communications, Events, Engagement and Marketing Manager for a range of functions. The following key duties are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. In accordance with principles of workplace diversity, workplace participation, safe working environment and the empowerment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, you will undertake the following tasks either individually or as a member of a team. • Create dynamic content for various channels, including social media, newsletters, media releases, the AIDA website and other online channels • Develop and deliver the AIDA Communications Strategy against the AIDA Strategic Objectives • Develop and deliver marketing plans for core business and all AIDA projects in conjunction with AIDA project leaders • Manage the organisation’s social media, website, and assist to develop and manage AIDA’s internal communication platforms. • Manage media requests and relationships • Monitor, direct and support the work of the Communications and Engagement Officer. • Photograph and source high quality images for internal and external use • Develop and maintain active stakeholder contacts. • Maintain and manage the communications data for the organisation. • Oversee the quality of all AIDA communications, including newsletters, publications. • Manage consultants and third-party suppliers as required. • Other duties within your capabilities, as directed by the Chief Executive Officer
• Experience in developing and implementing media and communication strategies • Highly developed written and oral communication skills • Experience in successfully managing complex and competing workloads • Highly effective communication, interpersonal, representational and negotiation skills • Ability to work independently or under limited guidance • High level attention to detail • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders • Demonstrate a sound understanding of current and historical issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples • Communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, media, or a related field. • Previous experience working with a not-for-profit organisation • Experience with: • InDesign • Photoshop • Events Air • Microsoft Teams • WordPress • Active Campaign (or other automated marketing software) • Video Editing
