The Heritage, Reef and Marine Division works to conserve, protect and sustainably manage Australia’s biodiversity and heritage. Our heritage is an important part of our national identity. We work actively to ensure the protection of our national and world heritage places that tell the stories of our history and our unique Indigenous heritage.
• Produce high quality written material under limited direction including in particular Ministerial briefs and correspondence, and possibly other documents including discussion papers, reports, agenda papers, contracts and web text. • Build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders including community groups and businesses with a focus on achieving positive heritage outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. • Assist in strategic planning, program and project management and/or policy development including proposing and facilitating innovation initiatives and supporting business improvement strategies and changes in workplace practices. • Build on knowledge of and compliance with legislative, financial and administrative frameworks, government decision-making processes and agency guidelines and regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. • Demonstrated excellent written communication skills, with the ability to research, analyse and prepare accurate briefs and reports to meet deadlines, and verbal communication skills to undertake consultation, negotiation and representation tasks as needed. • Demonstrated experience in project and contract management. • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a cooperative team environment. • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, exercise judgement and common-sense, and respond quickly and flexibly to change. • Demonstrated ability to make timely decisions using good judgement, expertise and knowledge under limited guidance. • Confidence, resilience and empathy are qualities that are highly valued for the sensitive and efficient resolution of complex issues.
