The RSB IT Services Team provides IT support to staff, students and official visitors of the RSB in support of the research, education and operational activities of the School. The RSB IT Services Team is responsible for hardware procurement and deployment, and hardware and software support and management, for both desktop and research equipment-based computers. The Senior IT Officer is primarily responsible for the provision of high-quality, client focused, second level, IT technical support, and the development, delivery and support of educational technologies and systems. Position Dimension & Relationships: The Senior IT Officer works as part of a School based IT Team under the broad direction of the RSB IT Manager. The position provides expert IT technical advice to the RSB community, in support of the School’s research, education and operational activities. In addition, this position provides high level advice to academic staff in the use of educational technologies. Role Statement: Under broad direction of the RSB IT Manager, the Senior IT Officer is required to: 1. Act as an escalation point for RSB IT Officers on complex IT questions, and assist in supervising, leading, mentoring and development of team members engaged in RSB IT service delivery. 2. Liaise with clients, vendors and other ANU IT staff, to resolve problems, and plan and deliver integrated IT support services that meet their identified requirements whilst ensuring consistency with the RSB and ANU. 3. Write and maintain technical, operational and client facing documentation in support of RSB IT service delivery. 4. Provide educational technology support services both electronically and in person. 5. Research best practice and provide advice on technological trends to enhance the delivery of education, engage in informed discussion on educational development and flexible learning locally, campus wide and externally. 6. Participate in training and professional development activities, planning and general administrative tasks relevant to the work area and within the classification level of the position. 7. Undertake other duties consistent with the classification of the position and in line with the principles of multiskilling. 8. We are looking for a proactive team member who is an excellent troubleshooter in Linux, PC and Apple platforms, with proven experience with a variety of information resources, eLearning systems and educational technologies. SELECTION CRITERIA: 1. A degree in a relevant field with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training, in a service desk or desktop service area and in a learning technologies or online learning environment. Experience in a tertiary education, or similar environment, would be highly regarded. 2. Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional levels of customer services, with the ability to take ownership and accountability for delivering the best outcome for the customer and to develop positive working relationships with staff, students and official visitors at all levels within a large institution. 3. Extensive experience with a variety of IT operating systems, including Windows, Mac and Linux, and experience in eLearning systems & educational technologies. Linux and scripting skills essential. 4. Demonstrated ability to proactively assist team members, set priorities and meet deadlines in a changing work environment and a proven ability to lead support teams to achieve successful outcomes. 5. Demonstrated initiative to improve IT services and keep abreast of current and emerging technologies. 6. Demonstrated ability to write client facing and technical documentation. 7. Classification: ANU Officer 7 (IT) Salary package: $88,523 - $92,957 Plus 17% Superannuation Term: Full-time, Continuing
