VACCA Statewide Services deliver a range of service programs for the Aboriginal community across Victoria. Our programs cover the spectrum of community services but uniquely work together in an integrated way to bring the best outcomes for the Aboriginal community. Our services work towards self-determination and healing of the Aboriginal community by embedding culture and strengthening the safety and well-being of vulnerable community members, particularly children. This position is responsible for leadership, coordination of the cultural planning program and the provision of support Senior Advisors- Aboriginal Cultural Planning across VACCA and all other ACCO’s. The role supports the advisors in the development, endorsement, implementation and review of cultural plans for vulnerable Aboriginal children and young people living in out-of-home care. You will provide leadership and advocacy to ensure the protection and promotion of the cultural rights of Aboriginal children, young people and their families
Good knowledge and understanding of Indigenous issues, both in a Federal and Victorian context, and/or knowledge and understanding of the community services or child and family welfare sector Models appropriate interpersonal skills, self-awareness, self-management, and community/ cultural awareness in communications, problem solving and conflict resolution Experience in delivering results that focuses on the best interests of the child Develops models and protocols for working collaboratively in formal and informal partnerships with Aboriginal organisations and services
