The Collection Services team works with scholarly information resources in multiple formats and languages and the successful applicant will participate in their organisation, access maintenance, acquisition and bibliographic description. The position also participates in rostered shifts at the Menzies branch information desk and answers routine enquiries.
Familiarity with technical services related bibliographic standards and software applications, good communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work effectively as a team member are all essential requirements. Attention to detail is also essential. Reporting to the Access & Authentication Coordinator, the Technical Services Officer is based in the Menzies Library and provides acquisitions and electronic access services to facilitate access to facilitate access to scholarly information resources in all formats and languages. The position is also part of the information services team delivering information services to staff and students who use the Menzies Library. Under general direction, the Technical Services Officer will: 1. Provide general administrative and coordination support on order to achieve the efficient and effective operations within the Collection Access and Discovery team, this includes liaising with Collection Management Librarians and/or suppliers to resolve problems and following established processes. 2. Undertake copy cataloguing, in all formats and languages, adhering to bibliographic standards. Linking records will need to be created for online resources. 3. Regularly maintain and accurately update online student training and student development information including web pages, database and other relevant systems. 4. Provide services across Library branches, by participating in rostered shifts on the Information Desk and provide advice to Library users about Library services and scholarly information resources 5. Comply with all ANU policies and procedures, in particular those relating to the Code of Conduct, work health and safety and equal opportunity. 6. Perform other duties as directed, consistent with the classification level of the position and in line with the principle of multi-skilling.

SELECTION CRITERIA 1. Degree OR Year 12 and extensive relevant work experience OR equivalent combination of experience and training 2. Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to liaise with stakeholders in a culturally diverse environment and to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in order to acquire scholarly information resources. 3. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in cataloguing and metadata standards, applications, and online bibliographic utilities, including the ability to create and maintain bibliographic, order and holdings records. 4. Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage customer expectations whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail and accuracy. 5. Proven ability to learn new skills quickly, including specific Library systems, and identify ways to continually improve existing work processes, both individually and within a team. 6. Proficient computer skills with demonstrated experience in using the MS Office suite. Previous experience working with MS EXCEL and MarcEdit will be highly regarded 7.
