The Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association (AIDA) is the national body representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander doctors and medical students. Our vision  is to promote self-determination and equitable health and life outcomes for Indigenous people. Our work includes increasing the number of  Indigenous medical students and doctors, and creating  a culturally safe healthcare system.

About the role
The Executive Assistant provides high-level support to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), enabling them to meet the strategic and operational demands of leading a national peak body. As a key member of the AIDA team, the EA ensures smooth coordination of executive-level activities, prepares the CEO for high-level engagements, and maintains effective communication with key stakeholders across the First Nations, government, and healthcare sectors.

About you
You will be a confident, highly organised professional with experience supporting senior executives in fast-paced environments. You will have strong communication and relationship-building skills, a deep commitment to Indigenous self-determination and health equity, and the ability to handle confidential matters with diplomacy.
You will be calm under pressure, proactive in anticipating the needs of the CEO, and skilled in prioritising tasks and stakeholder relationships to ensure the CEO is well-prepared and supported.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated commitment to culturally safe practice and improving self-determination and health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  2. Prior experience as an Executive Assistant or in a similar support role requiring independent decision-making and strategic planning.
  3. Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to adapt and reprioritise competing demands.
  4. High level of initiative, judgement and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
  5. Proven ability to build and manage relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including senior executives, government, and community leaders.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
